Canada rejoices over Bears' cuts
There is joy in the streets of Canada today because they are getting back one of their favorite players.
No not Doug Flutie. Wide receiver Andy Fantuz was released Friday by the Chicago Bears and is expected to return to the CFL. You know when you are big in Canada when they give you your won cereal.
Fantuz was part of the first round of cuts after the 4th and final preseason game on Thursday. He was part of 14 players who got their walking papers, many of whom were undrafted free agents. The list includes
G - Johan Asisata (appeared in 2 games last year for Bears)
T - Josh Davis
FB - Eddie Williams (seriously this guy was screwed from the beginning with Martz running the show)
WR - Jimmy Young & Onrea Jones
P - Spencer Lanning
LB - Deron Minor, Tressor Baptiste, & Chris Johnson (why don't the Bears ever have the talented guy with the same name)
CB - Antareis Bryan & Ryan Jones
DE & LS - Jake Laptad
C Alex Linnenkohl
The Bears still have to cut 13 more players to get down to the final 53 by Saturday. I would expect some bigger names to be part of that list including Chester Taylor and Marcus Harrison but we will just have to wait and see
