Yep, that's right the Blackhawks are going to honor a Redwing.

Well not really but kind of yeah.

December 17 the Blackhawks will Honor Chris Chelios with a Heritage Night. Chelios spent nine season in Chicago in what became a very long 26 year career which just ended this past summer.

This is the third shot the Hawks will be taking at the Wings. Shot one came Saturday when they played the Redwings in the preseason home opener in front of a near sellout crowd, shot two is the home opener on October 9th when they will raise their championship banner and the Chelios night will make number three.

Chelios is currently working for the Redwings as a consultant.

When the announcement was made Saturday during the game many in the crowd started to boo the man who said he would never play for Detroit but ended up going there and winning a cup.

Sadly during Chris' nine seasons in Chicago he was unable to help the Blackhawks win the cup but they did make a finals appearance against the Penguins. He did win the Norris Trophy three times during his time here. Wonder if Duncan Keith can match that number or maybe even surpass it during his career?

To be fair to Chris he spent just about the same amount of time in Detroit as he did Chicago.

The first 10,000 fans, so about half the crowd, will receive a special Chris Chelios Hertiage Night hat.
