It's been a long time coming but finally this phrase will always be said when introducing the MVP of Super Bowl XXV.
Hall of Famer, Richard Dent is finally getting the call to Canton 25 years after he was named the MVP of the Super Bowl. Dent's lucky number was seven as in it took seven tries for Dent to get the call.
Dent may not be remembered as dominate as other defensive ends such as Reggie White and Bruce Smith but when he retired in 1997 those were the only two players with more sacks then him. His 137.5 sacks are still good enough for sixth all time. He is tied with former Viking John Randle as is behind Chris Doleman, Michael Strahan and outside linebacker Kevin Greene.
With Dent's induction into the hall it gives the Chicago Bears the most members in Canton with 27. Also Dent is the 4th player from the Super Bowl winning '85 Bears to enter the hall. He will be joining the late great Walter Payton, Samurai Mike Singletary and his fellow defensive end Dan Hampton.
Congrats to hall of famer Richard Dent. It is well deserved and well overdue.
So now the question is who is next? Will another member of the '85 Bears get a call or will we be waiting till Brian Urlacher takes off his helmet for the last time?
