Just one day after the Bears signed Michael Bush to most likely take his job, Marion Barber III decided to retire at the age of 28.
Barber who did a decent job last season backing up Matt Forte eventually lost the starting job after Forte went down with an injury. His inability to do much besides run between the tackles and eventually gettting hurt lead the way to Kahili Bell taking his place.
I will always remember Barber lining up offside against Kansas City, helping the Bears get to OT against the Broncos before then costing them the game but most of all I will remember the play below.
Seriously if you are unsure if you can pull off a backflip you shouldn’t try it at all.
Barber, who is due to turn 29 in June, played six season with the Cowboys before playing last season with the Bears. He totaled 4,780 yards on 1,156 carries to go along with his 53 touchdowns. And while he didn’t show it with the Bears he did have a decent set of hands out of the backfield catching 179 balls for 1,330 yards and six touchdowns.
