Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher was awarded with the NFC Defensive Player of the month for December/January.This is the second straight month a Bears won the award. Defensive end Julius Peppers won it back in November.
Urlacher totaled 49 tackles during the month which was best for the NFC. For the season the Pro-bowl middle linebacker made 125 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 interception, and 2 forced fumbles. This marked a return to form for Brian after a subpar 2008 season and missing all by one game in the 2009 season.
The real question now is should Urlacher be clearing space on his self for the Defensive Player of the Year award?
We will just have to see just like Urlacher & Co. have to wait and see how the games play out this weekend before they find out who they will play at Soldier Field on January 16. For who they might play check out my piece on the Bears Playoff Picture.
